Premium Efficiency Commercial Services Program

Premium Tune-Ups: Optimal Performance made Easy.

Is your air conditioning system running at its optimal performance? Find out by signing up for a Premium Tune-up. The Premium Efficiency Cooling Program offers commercial building owners and facility managers low-cost or no-cost tune-ups on qualifying AC units. These tune-ups include taking temperature and pressure readings to assess the heat transfer properties of the unit, minor adjustments to correct airflow and/or refrigerant charge consistent with manufacturer specifications, and filter change or cleaning and condenser coil cleaning as appropriate. Services and charges vary by participating contractor and are limited to eligible customers in the in the SDG&E® service area. This program ends December 31, 2012 or when funds are no longer available.

Selecting a Contractor

Premium tune-ups are performed by participating licensed HVAC contractors who have been trained to diagnose and correct refrigerant charge and airflow problems using state-of-the-art computer-assisted technologies. Some HVAC contractors may include filter and/or refrigerant at no additional cost, minor economizer adjustments, and/or detailed analysis of each unit's performance. Other contractors may require an agreement that the customer authorize minor repairs up to a specified cap to ensure that units are functioning sufficiently to allow for charge and airflow adjustments. Contractors may also provide no-obligation recommendations for replacement or repairs not covered by the tune-up program. Although all participating contractors have C-20 licenses and meet minimum insurance requirements, customers are advised to exercise due diligence in selecting a contractor that best meets their needs.
