Premium Efficiency Cooling Program

Hotels and Motels

There has never been a better time to replace your old air conditioners with premium efficient ones. Premium Efficiency Cooling Program incentives are now at $125 per ton for qualifying equipment. According to the California Hotel and Lodging Association, electricity use accounts for 60-70% of the utility costs of a typical hotel. Premium efficient units will help prevent breakdowns, enhance the comfort of guests and lower energy use.

Only Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTACs) and Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHPs) installed in hotel/motel guest rooms before January 2002, or after January 2006 qualify. Eligible sites must be in the San Diego Gas & Electric service area and must not have participated in SDG&E’s Savings by Design Program. Equipment must be installed after January 1, 2009 and prior to payment. Program ends December 31, 2009 or when funds are no longer available.

To learn more about the program and to find out if you may be eligible for program incentives, call 888-369-1608. Funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so contact the program today to reserve your funds!
